We have some exciting news for pet owners and referring vets! 

Prof. Dr. Marios Charalambous has joined Advanced Vetcare London as our Head of Neurology. 

An internationally recognised veterinary neurologist, he brings extensive experience in neurology and neurosurgery to London, giving pets access to advanced diagnosis, treatment and surgery closer to home.

Known for his collaborative and approachable style, Prof. Charalambous helps pets with complex neurological conditions receive the specialist care they need.

His appointment marks an exciting step in the continued development of Advanced Vetcare London's specialist referral services.

International Expertise in Veterinary Neurology

Prof. Charalambous has dedicated his career to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders in cats and dogs. 

Holding specialist recognition from both the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Neurology, he is also an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Neurology. 

His extensive qualifications include a PhD focused on epileptic seizure disorders, advanced neuroimaging training and approved neurology residency training. This experience allows him to diagnose and treat a wide range of neurological conditions, using both medical and surgical approaches.

Alongside his clinical work, he serves as a visiting professor at the University of Nicosia and a research associate at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover Germany. Prof Charalambous has held numerous international academic and professional leadership roles within the veterinary neurology community.

Prof. Charalambous has experience managing a wide range of neurological disorders, from common conditions through to challenging referral cases.

His clinical interests include:

  • Epilepsy and seizure disorders
  • Brain and spinal cord disease
  • Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)
  • Neurosurgery
  • Advanced neuroimaging and diagnostic investigations
  • Neuromuscular disorders

Whether investigating neurological signs or performing spinal surgery, Prof. Charalambous provides specialist care while supporting both owners and referring vets throughout each stage of treatment.

Alongside his clinical work, Prof. Charalambous is passionate about advancing veterinary neurology through research, education and the development of clinical guidelines.

He has published extensively within the field of veterinary neurology, lectures internationally, and remains actively involved in research and postgraduate education.

His passion for teaching and sharing knowledge helps inspire the next generation of veterinary specialists and leaders. 

It is an exciting time for veterinary neurology, and through education and collaboration, Prof. Charalambous is helping shape the future of the profession while improving care for pets with complex neurological conditions.

Neurology Services at Advanced Vetcare London

Prof. Charalambous leads our growing specialist neurology service, providing expert investigation and treatment for pets with complex neurological conditions.

The service supports cases including seizures, spinal disease, mobility changes, vestibular conditions and other neurological concerns. 

With access to advanced imaging, specialist surgical facilities and 24-hour inpatient care, Advanced Vetcare London provides comprehensive neurological diagnosis and treatment when referral is needed.

By working closely with referring vets, we aim to make the referral process straightforward, with advice and support available at every stage of a case.

Outside the Clinic

Alongside his clinical and academic commitments, Prof. Charalambous enjoys traveling around the world and gaining new experiences. 

Marios also enjoys spending time with his friendly black cat, Ares, whose playful personality brings daily joy, and plenty of entertaining moments.
